Melissa Calkins

Joining Teleios in August 2023, Melissa brought sixteen years' experience in Hospice.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, has completed four years of nursing education, and has achieved a black belt in Lean Six Sigma.  She holds a certification as a Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP) Consultant and has successfully finished National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s (NHPCO) Compliance Certificate Program and Quality Certificate Program. 

Starting as a data analyst in 2011, Melissa found her strong passion for Hospice quality and compliance and has focused her career on supporting the Hospice community and assisting nonprofit Hospices in advancing their Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and compliance programs.  She has skill and expertise in process improvement, understanding of federal and state regulations, providing clinical training in documentation, data analysis, and advocating for patients' eligibility for Hospice Care.  She has taught best practices at a national level, coordinated numerous favorable record reviews, and has been instrumental in helping one Hospice recover over $2 million in Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) hearings. 

Melissa is an active member with NHPCO, National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), Hospice Compliance Network (HCN), and CGS’ Medicare Provider Outreach and Education (POE) Advisory Group.
